New Jersey hospital opens Institute for Robotic Surgery

Secaucus, N.J.-based Hudson Regional Hospital opened its Institute for Robotic Surgery after a brief delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Hudson Reporter.

What you should know:

1. The institute received accreditation just before COVID-19 restrictions were announced.

2. The institute has several surgical robots, including the ExcelsiusGPS, the Mazor Robotic Guidance System, Stryker's Mako and the Mazor X Stealth. It also has an O-arm 2D/3D imaging system.

3. Robotic surgery specialists will treat several conditions including hernia, urology, spine conditions and gynecology.

4. Hudson Regional invested more than $8 million into the center since January 2017.
