Stryker launches Mako total knee replacement application: 5 key notes

    Laura Dyrda -

Stryker launched the total knee replacement application for the Mako System robotic arm.

Here are five things to know:

    1. The Mako Total Knee includes Stryker's robotic technology and the Triathlon Total Knee System.

    2. Robotic technology is designed for surgeons to perform a more precise and predictable procedure with increased accuracy. The system includes a CT-based 3-D modeling capability to personalize the procedure to the patient's unique anatomy.

    3. The robot assists with bone resections and surgeons can modify the surgical plan intraoperatively.

    4. Surgeons are already using the Mako robotic arm for partial knee replacement and total hip replacements; more than 83,000 procedures used the Mako robotic arm through 2016.

    5. There are more than 350 Mako systems in the United States and more than 1,400 total knee replacements have been performed with the technology to date.
