Accelus' implant milestone and five more key updates from spine and orthopedic devicemakers since Oct. 5:

1. Ivan LaMotta, MD, an orthopedic spine surgeon at Midlands Orthopedics & Neurosurgery in Columbia, S.C., has performed the first procedure in the U.S. using Medacta's MySpine Anchor.

2. Spinal implant technology manufacturer Aurora Spine has received FDA 510(k) clearance for its new sacroiliac joint fixation system. 

3. ZimVie has launched the Virage Navigation System, an occipito-cervico-thoracic spinal fixation system with a 360 degree screw for spinal rod alignment. 

4. Orthofix has entered into a definitive agreement to merge with SeaSpine. 

5. The first patients have been enrolled in a clinical trial evaluating the outcomes of patients who underwent spine surgery with aprevo, Carlsmed's patient-specific spine implant.

6. More than 15,000 of Accelus' FlareHawk multiplanar expandable cages have been implanted in over 11,000 patients in the U.S.
