Spineology sued Wright Medical Technology, alleging the company's percutaneous expandable reamer infringed on an existing patent, according to a JDSUPRA Business Advisor report.
Here are five things to know:
1. Spineology alleges Wright Medical's X-REAM percutaneous expandable reamer infringes on its "Expandable Reamer" patent.
2. In 2006, Spineology sold 50 of its expandable reamers to Wright Medical but didn't include a license to the patent in the sale.
3. The patent for the "Expandable Reamer" was reissued to Spineology in September 2011.
4. Last year Spineology sent a cease-and-desist letter asking Wright Medical to stop selling the X-REAM.
5. Wright Medical did not stop selling the X-REAM, and Spineology then filed suit.
