North Dakota hospital installs robot for total knee replacements

Robotics

CHI St. Alexius Health in Bismarck, N.D., has implemented the ROSA Knee robotic system to assist orthopedic surgeons in knee replacement procedures, local NBC affiliate KFYR TV reports.

Developed by Zimmer Biomet, ROSA Knee features 3D preoperative planning tools and intraoperative data on soft tissue and bone anatomy to improve bone cut accuracy and range of motion gap analysis.

The system collects data to help surgeons make more informed decisions on patient care.

Surgeons at CHI St. Alexius Health are training with the robot and will begin offering it for knee replacements in the coming weeks.
