Researchers used the Rochester Epidemiology Project, a medical records linking system, to track more than 140,000 residents of Olmsted County, Minn., who visited Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., Olmsted Medical Center in Rochester and other healthcare providers in Olmsted County.

The top disease groups were osteoarthritis/ joint disorders, back problems, chronic neurologic disorders, migraines, high blood pressure and skin disorders. Back problems plagued 23.9 percent while 22.6 percent reported osteoarthritis and joint disorders.
