The FDA approved Medasys' Prometra programmable implantable drug pump for the intraspinal delivery of INFUMORPH, a preservative-free morphine sulfate sterile solution, for the management of pain, according to a news release.
In a clinical trial, the pump showed 97 percent clinical accuracy in the delivery of the physician-programmed dosage. The new pump design is intended to increase longevity and accuracy through the elimination of moving parts and complex gears and rotors.
