Here are five things to know about orthopedic surgeon pay heading into 2019.

1. In 2018, orthopedic surgeons made a base salary of $553,537, a 0.2 percent increase from 2017.

3. Nonprofit hospital executive pay increased 93 percent in a decade. Orthopedic surgeon pay did not.

5. Compensation for orthopedic surgeons increased 0.9 percent while compensation per work relative value unit decreased 0.3 percent in 2017.
