Orthopedic surgeon to know: Dr. Matthew Jimenez of Illinois Bone and Joint Institute

Matthew Jimenez, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at Morton Grove-based Illinois Bone and Joint Institute.

In addition to his role as chairman of the Illinois Bone and Joint Institute's physician assistant orthopaedic residency training program, Dr. Jimenez serves as a clinical professor of orthopaedic surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is also the UIC orthopaedic residency training program's site director.

As a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Dr. Jimenez serves on the organization's board of councilors as well as several committees. He previously served as president of the Illinois Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Dr. Jimenez founded and leads the nonprofit Foundation for Education and Musculoskeletal Research, and chairs the Chicago Trauma Symposium, a four-day multidisciplinary trauma course.

Dr. Jimenez earned his medical degree from Iowa City-based University of Iowa College of Medicine. He completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at Northwestern University in Chicago and a one-year fellowship at the University of Toronto-affiliated Sunnybrook Medical Center in Toronto, Canada.
