Ortech will introduce a new data registry system at The Orthopaedic Institute at Hackensack University Medical Center, which will capture intra-operative and implant data, and patient outcomes to measure and analyze patient progress. This data is aimed to support decision-making.
Ortech, which powers the new registry, makes patient privacy a priority, and ensures compliance with HIPAA regulation when capturing and storing data on patients. Today, Ortech has a detailed library of orthopedic implants, and attempts to capture data on implants and patient-reported outcomes, in addition to comparing intersecting data points across surgeons, implants, etc.
"As a teaching and research hospital, we understand that data supports the best clinical outcomes for our patients," said Matt Reigle, administrator, Orthopaedic Institute at HackensackUMC. "Our goal is to use data to become a fully evidence-based provider of orthopedic care, creating an environment of consistent improvement. By owning our data, we will be able to see trends across surgeons, implants, clinical outcomes and better understand what our patients report to us.
