What you should know:

1. Mr. Bateman will replace John Gleason, MD, and Douglas Lundy, MD, who served as co-presidents of the practice since 2015 and 2014, respectively. Both Dr. Gleason and Dr. Lundy will focus on their surgical practices.

2. At USPI, Mr. Bateman oversaw operations for a territory that covers 10 states and 60 surgical centers, and also served as executive director of Resurgens for five years.

3. Dr. Gleason spoke highly of Mr. Bateman, saying his "strong background in business development and physician partnerships as well as his skill in positioning an organization for future success are among the qualities that made him our top choice for CEO."
