New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery is resuming orthopedic urgent and emergent surgeries at three of its outpatient facilities on May 6.

Three things to know:

1. In April, HSS opened five orthopedic urgent care centers to treat patients requiring prompt medical attention.

2. The health system suspended elective surgeries in March and accelerated scaling of its telehealth services.

3. HSS has been ranked No. 1 in orthopedics for 10 consecutive years by U.S. News & World Report's Best Hospitals survey.
