California orthopedic group stays open as alternative to 'already overburdened' hospitals

Practice Management

Silicon Valley Orthopaedics is providing walk-in orthopedic services at its facility in Fremont, Calif., as the COVID-19 outbreak leads other groups to temporarily close, according to a March 26 announcement.

For select patients with orthopedic problems, the practice is offering X-ray and MRI services, injections, leg and arm casting, physical therapy, and surgery. Alternatively, SVO patients can utilize telemedicine services via Doxy.

Any patient who visits SVO's facility will be screened for symptoms of the new coronavirus and asked about relevant travel history. SVO set a limit on how many patients can visit at any one time, and visitors are limited to patients under 65 years old.

"We want existing patients and anyone else in need to know that they can come to our state of the art facility instead of heading to an already overburdened hospital," said SVO co-founder Kerisimasi Reynolds, DO, an orthopedic surgeon.
