Practice Management

Port St. Lucie, Fla.-based Martin Health System is seeking $30 million to develop a neuroscience building next to Traditional Medical Center in Port St. Lucie, according to TC Palm.

Here are five notes:

1. Traditional Medical Center President Rob Lord said the neuroscience institute would meet the community's growing needs for spine and brain surgery as well as neurology services.

2. Additionally, Martin Health needs $1.3 million in property tax breaks over the next 10 years, according to Mr. Lord. The proposed Neuroscience Center of Excellence also demands $2 million in impact-fee relief.

3. Port St. Lucie city officials unanimously approved an economic-incentive package, including permitting approvals.

4. Mr. Lord estimates the neuroscience building would take two years to build.

5. Martin Health System is also in negotiations with Weston-based Cleveland Clinic Florida to invest in new facilities and equipment.
