Medical Group Management Association unveiled its 2018 MGMA DataDive Provider Compensation.
The survey included data from 136,000 providers in more than 5,800 organizations.
Here are six things to note.
1. The report revealed primary care physicians' compensation increased by more than 10 percent in the last five years.
2. PCP salary increased at a rate almost double that of specialty physicians' compensation.
3. MGMA indicates its findings support the growing PCP shortage in the nation.
4. Family medicine physicians, specifically, experienced a 12 percent jump in total compensation over the past five years. However, their median number of work relative value units didn't change.
5. Further, practices provided additional benefits, such as higher signing bonuses and continuing medical education stipends to boost PCP recruitment.
6. Non-physicians also witnessed growth, with nurse practitioners' total compensation rising nearly 30 percent over the past 10 years.
