Practice Management

Shawnee Mission (Kan.) Health has added four neurosurgery specialists to its new neurosurgery specialty practice, Shawnee Mission Medical Center, according to Biz Journals.

Here's what you need to know:

1. New neurosurgeon Paul O'Boynic, MD, was chief of neurosurgery at Kansas City-based University of Kansas Medical Center for 16 years before joining Merriam-based Neurosurgery Associates of Kansas in 2004.

2. New neurosurgeon Darren Lovick, MD, previously served as director of neurosurgery at Kansas City, Mo.-based Saint Luke's Health System for nine years.

3. The physician group also added Mark Pemberton, PA, and Michelle Martin, RN.

4. Shawnee Mission Physicians Group COO Scott Woods said, "We believe as a health system it is important to be a great partner to all physicians, employed and independent."

5. The physician group's fast growth made adding a neurosurgery practice necessary. The network recently included primary care, emergency and urgent care facilities in the surrounding area and expects to add more patients, physicians and specialties in the future.
