WalletHub studied 150 cities across the nation with four key areas in mind: healthcare, food, fitness and green space. Within those sectors, the analysts then utilized 34 indicators of good health to determine the America's healthiest cities.

Indicators within the healthcare category included:


• Premature-death rate
• Mental health
• Mental health counselors per capita
• Physical health
• Family doctors per capita
• Dentists per capita
• Medical visit cost
• Dental visit cost
• Quality of public hospital system
• Hospital beds per capita
• Adult health insurance coverage
• Youth health insurance coverage
