The healthcare industry has observed an accelerating trend toward the formation of alliances, networks, collaboratives and partnerships. The term Strategic Regional Organization (SRO) has been adopted by an increasing number of parties to refer to these organizations.
An inaugural meeting of the American Association of Strategic Regional Organizations (AASRO) was held in Philadelphia on Oct. 17 to Oct. 18. A pre-meeting event of 15 SROs, representing more than 200 hospitals, was held on Oct. 17, to discuss the purposes and structure of the organization. An educational program on a growing number of population health and economies of scale opportunities to produce value in SROs were presented on Oct. 18.
