Practice Management

Francisco Vazquez, 14 and a freshman at New Jersey-based Montville High School, recently completed a two-week program on the basics of orthopedics at Wellesley College, Patch reports. Here's what you should know.

1. The program was open to just 16 students and was taught by Dinesh Patel, MD.

2. Through the program, Mr. Vazquez and his classmates intensively studied anatomy and physiology.

3. Dr. Patel taught the students skills frequently used in the orthopedic field and with rehabilitative medicine. Then worked with the students to construct a model of a knee joint while simulating surgery.

4. This marks the third program of the type that Mr. Vazquez completed. In addition to Wellesley College he also took part in programs at Yale and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
