The Maryland Health Care Commission granted two medical practices grants of more than $115,000, according to The Baltimore Sun.
Here are five things to know:
1. The practices will use this funding to show the benefits of telehealth.
2. Gilchrist Greater Living, offering geriatric care in Central Maryland, will receive one of the grants. With the funding, the practice will offer in-home telehealth monitoring for chronically ill patients.
3. MedPeds, a Laurel, Md.-based family medicine practice, will receive the other grant. The practice will use the grant to offer 24/7 telehealth services.
4. Both practices will being their projects in June and complete them in November 2017.
5. Since 2014, Maryland Health Care Commission has given $257,000 for telehealth projects.
