US Senate honors nurse-led care with declared week — 4 things to note

Practice Management

The U.S. Senate declared Nov. 8 through Nov. 14 as National Nurse-Managed Health Clinic Week.

Here are four notes:

1. The U.S. Senate Resolution 303 shines a spotlight on the importance of the more than 250 nurse-managed health clinics in the nation.

2. These health clinics serve more than three million underserved people, who otherwise do not have access to care.

3. The Senate's appreciation complements the nonprofit National Nursing Centers Consortium's annual conference in Philadelphia. The organization supports nurse-led care for addressing healthcare disparities.

4. NNCC will highlight the Senate-declared week during its conference, asking attendees how they plan to honor advanced practice nurses.

"With a known shortage of primary care physicians, advanced practice nurses, nurse practitioners and nurse-managed health clinics are vital to ensuring access to high-quality and affordable healthcare for millions of people," said Tine Hansen-Turton, CEO, NNCC.
