5 things to know about University Orthopedics

Practice Management

East Providence, R.I.-based University Orthopedics is one of the largest orthopedic practices in the U.S. and has achieved some milestones in recent months.

Five things to know:

1. University Orthopedics has 66 physicians and 70 locations.

2. University Orthopedics became the first in the state to offer the Intracept spine procedure for patients seeking relief from vertebrogenic pain in August.

3. The practice added family-owned practice Cranston, R.I.-based Orthopaedic Associates to its network of facilities. University Orthopedics assumed management duties of the practice months ago, and brought it into the UO family effective Jan. 1.

4. The practice created a new comprehensive spasticity management clinic. The clinic is led by Zachary Bohart, MD, a board-certified physiatrist and spasticity management expert. It will offer three different treatments for spasticity, including Botox injection therapy, phenol nerve-block injection therapy and intrathecal baclofen pump placement and therapy.

5. University Orthopedics is led by CEO Weber Shill. Michelle DeRoche is COO, and David Paller is CFO.
