Neurosurgeon Hilarie Tomasiewicz, MD, PhD, was named the first site chief of neurosurgery at Mount Sinai Queens (N.Y.) in January, the Queens Gazette reports.
Three things to know:
1. Dr. Tomasiewicz is tasked with building a neurosurgical program focused on spine surgery, expanding on the interventional spine procedures offered at Mount Sinai Queens Cerebrovascular Stroke Center.
2. She is assistant professor of neurosurgery, neurology and neuroscience at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and director of the neurosurgical pain program at Mount Sinai Health System, both in New York City.
3. Cameron Hernandez, MD, the newly appointed executive director and COO of Mount Sinai Queens, will oversee the development of the program as well as other expansion plans for 2021.
