DePuy Spine Launches New Systems at NASS Annual Meeting

DePuy Spine launched the COUGAR LS cage system as part of the MIS Lateral Platform designed specifically for the lateral approach to minimally invasive spinal fusion and the EXPEDIUM offset system for spinal surgery use, according to a company news release.

The MIS Lateral Platform system was introduced at the 25th Annual Meeting of the North American Spine Society in Orlando, Fla. The MIS Lateral Platform also includes the PIPELINE LS lateral access system and the VIPER 2 system of rods and screws to perform minimally invasive spinal fusion.

The COUGAR LS cage has a self-distracting tip and bulleted nose for a streamlined insertion. The VIPER 2 includes a versatile rod insertion options for complex and degenerative pathologies. The PIPELINE LS includes retractor blades where the top of the retractor is radiolucent and allows for the visualization for placement of the COUGAR LS cage.

The EXPEDIUM system includes longitudinal rods, screws, hooks, transverse and dual-rod connectors, sacral extenders and washers. The new offset system features polyaxial and fixed bolts, angulating and slotted connectors and single and multi-level plating options. The instrumentation was designed to help streamline procedures.
