3D-imaging startup nView Medical partnered with OrthoGrid on April 30 to combine their imaging and alignment technologies for orthopedic surgeries, The Herald Journal reports.

Three things to know:

1.The integration of the real-time 3D imaging and alignment systems aims to improve intraoperative navigation, surgical accuracy and OR efficiency.

2. The companies are performing a proof of concept for a periacetabular osteotomy procedure, before expanding the technology to other orthopedic procedures.

3. OrthoGrid and nView Medical's technologies are driven by artificial intelligence. Combined, they plan to reduce the need for preoperative planning, decrease radiation exposure for patients and improve patient outcomes.
