DePuy Synthes to acquire JointPoint assets, aims to expand navigation device in orthopedics

DePuy Synthes is set to acquire the assets of JointPoint, reports Medical Device Network.

Four things to know:

1. DePuy will acquire JointPoint's navigation software, which it plans to develop for further orthopedic procedures.

2. The software provides precise analysis for implant selection and positioning in hip replacements and helps surgeons create more reproducible clinical outcomes.

3. The acquisition is expected to be finalized by the end of the year.

4. Neither company disclosed financial details of the deal.
