Jocelyn Idema, DO, recently implanted Centinel Spine's newest generation of its prodisc L lumbar artificial disc replacement.
Here are five things to know:
1. Dr. Idema is a board-certified orthopedic spine surgeon at Advanced Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation in Pittsburgh.
2. The prodisc L is a total disc replacement technology platform designed to be an alternative to spinal fusion.
3. According to Dr. Idema, "lumbar artificial discs [are] only recently are making a resurgence because of various limitations, including insurance companies authorizing the procedures."
4. Centinel Spine is among the few U.S. companies to currently offer upper and lower spine devices for total disc replacement.
5. Dr. Idema received her doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and underwent spine fellowship training at The Spine Institute of Arizona in Scottsdale.
