AxioMed released its Lateral Viscoelastic Total Disc Replacement.
Here are five highlights:
1. Kingsley R. Chin, MD, will perform the first procedure with the device before the end of 2017 in Jamaica.
2. The company brought on Ken Yamada as chief business officer and executive vice president as well as David Jones as VP of global business to head the expansion of the device outside the U.S.
3. AxioMed is striving for FDA premarket approval for the device in 2018.
4. The lateral disc features viscoelastic properties, which provides disc space and restoration of normal physiological movement.
5. AxioMed is showcasing its technology at the 2017 North American Spine Society annual meeting in Orlando, Fla., from Oct. 25 to Oct. 28.
