Foothills Medical Centre joins INSPIRE study as Canadian site: 5 key points

Cambridge, Mass.-based InVivo Therapeutics added the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary, Alberta, as a Canadian INSPIRE study clinical site.

Here are five key points:

 

1. The Foothills Medical Centre is the largest hospital in Alberta, offering services to more than 2 million people.

 

2. Steven Casha, MD, PhD, an assistant neurosurgery professor in the department of clinical neurosciences, will serves as principal investigator at the site.

 

3. With the addition of Foothills Medical Centre, InVivo has 24 INSPIRE clinical study sites.

 

4. The INSPIRE study tests the Neuro-Spinal Scaffold's efficacyl and safety for complete thoracic AIS A spinal cord injury.

 

5. Five patients implanted with the Neuro-Spinal Scaffold have improved from complete AIS A spinal cord injuries to incomplete AIS B spinal cord injuries.
