Mazor sells 50th robotic spine surgery system in U.S. — 5 key notes

Spinal Tech

Mazor Robotics reported the 50th Renaissance system was sold in the United States.

Here are five things to know:

1. The Renaissance system is a robotic-guidance system for spine surgery to promote accuracy with pedicle screw placement. Surgeons are using the systems in a variety of procedures across the country.

2. The 50th system was sold to a 160-bed acute care hospital in Virginia. This is the third system installed in Virginia — the second this quarter.

3. Mazor recently reached the 10,000 cases performed milestone for the Renaissance system.

4. The technology also allows spine surgeons to pre-plan surgical procedures and reduces radiation in the operating room.

5. Mazor plans to announce the total number of systems sold this quarter after the quarter's end on June 30.
