St. Jude Medical acquires Spinal Modulation — 5 things to know

St. Jude Medical purchased Spinal Modulation.

Here are five things to know:


1. The acquisition was complete on May 1, making St. Jude Medical the only medical device manufacturer in the world to offer radiofrequency ablation, spinal cord stimulation and dorsal root ganglion stimulation therapy for chronic pain treatment.


2. Spinal Modulation developed the Axium Neurostimulator System, and will help St. Jude grow sales across the neuromodulation product portfolio.


3. Axium has the CE Mark and completed enrollment in the ACCURATE U.S. IDE trial last year.


4. Spinal Modulation also submitted its PMA application to the FDA in support of marketing approval in the United States and the full results of the study will be presented at the International Neuromodulation Society Congress in June.


5. St. Jude Medical is focused on developing cost-effective medical technologies to save lives around the world.
