Stanmore Implants Worldwide Acquires Robotics Device Company

Stanmore Implants Worldwide, a London-based orthopedic implant manufacturer, has acquired Acrobot, a U.K.-based robotic medical device company, according to a Dow Jones report.

The acquisition occurred for an undisclosed sum. Acrobot designs systems for surgeons to preoperatively plan procedures and robotic devices for surgical assistance. Brian Steer, executive chairman of Stanmore, said the company acquired Acrobot because computer-assisted navigation is gaining ground in orthopedic surgery.
