MRI Intervention announced the 2000th procedure using its ClearPoint Neuro Navigation System was recently completed.
Here are three things to know:
1. William Anderson, MD, of Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins University, performed the successful surgery. The navigation system is now installed at 50-plus hospitals and research centers across the country.
2. ClearPoint Neuro Navigation System uses existing diagnostic or intraoperative MRI suites to perform various minimally invasive procedures in a patient's brain.
3. MRI Interventions designed the system to enable MRI scanners to serve as the eyes of a surgeon while the procedure is being performed. Additionally, the navigation system is designed uses the power of MRI to guide therapeutic procedures.
