Data shows bone marrow aspirate treatment effective for back pain: 4 notes

Biologics

Two-year data from a pilot study found the StemSpine regenerative procedure was effective for treating chronic lower back pain.

Four things to know:

1. Creative Medical Technology Holdings' StemSpine uses a patient's own bone marrow aspirate to treat lower back pain, according to a March 23 news release.

2. Researchers saw an 87 percent efficacy rate in patients.

3. The study found no safety-related concerns at the two-year mark after procedures.

4. "To our knowledge, this pilot is the first demonstration of the clinical efficacy of injecting bone marrow aspirate in areas surrounding the disc, thereby repairing, remodeling and improving the blood supply around the disc and lower back area," Timothy Warbington, Creative Medical Technology Holdings president and CEO, said in the release.
