MiMedx Group launched an investigation into fake email accounts impersonating the company's CEO and other executives.
Here are five things to know:
1. MiMedx recently became aware of emails being sent by an unauthorized user using CEO Parker Petit's name and a Gmail account that had not been created by Mr. Petit.
2. The imposter emails were sent to a MiMedx analyst and the company has turned the investigation over to the authorities.
3. MiMedx cautions employees and customers to be hesitant when opening an email using an executive's name, but a non-MiMedx email account. MiMex encourages those who have received imposter emails to contact them immediately.
4. The company is continuing to update its site with facts of the investigation. As of now, the imposter emails have not contained information about business processes or relationships.
