Houston Rockets all-pro Dwight Howard has more to worry about than a nagging a right ankle injury, reports House of Houston — apparently there's a build-up of fluid in his right knee as well.
Rockets team physician, Walter Lowe is expected to drain Mr. Howard's knee with hopes that it will rid itself of the edema on its own.
Reports indicate that Mr. Howard will not be traveling to with the team to either Boston or Detroit for the next two games. Though there is no timetable for the all-star's return, Houston head coach Kevin McHale said that Mr. Howard will be out for at least a month because of the knee.
Dr. Lowe, serving as team physician to both the Houston Rockets and the Houston Texans, is board-certified and specializes in sports medicine. He is chairman and professor of the department of orthopedic surgery at the University of Texas Medical School as well as medical director of the Memorial Hermann Sports Medicine Institute.
