Lewis Yocum, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles, recently performed shoulder surgery on Boston Red Sox fielder Ryan Kalish, according to a Boston Globe news report.
Dr. Yocum performed surgery on Mr. Kalish's left shoulder to repair a torn labrum. The month before, Mr. Kalish underwent neck surgery. The rehabilitation from the shoulder procedure takes several weeks and Mr. Kalish does not anticipate returning to play before the 2012 season begins, according to the report.
