26 Awarded 2013 Scoliosis Research Society Awards and Scholarships

The Scoliosis Research Society has posted the names of those who have received a 2013 SRS award or scholarship on their website. Awards include:


Global Outreach Visiting Fellowships: Funds a three to four week fellowship for a spinal surgeon from a developing country. The recipient shadows an SRS member at a participating institution and observes clinical care and spinal deformity surgeries there.

Edgar G. Dawson Visiting Fellowship: Awarded to an SRS member to visit a spine care center in North America to further his or her skill development and education.


Han Jo Kim, MD


Eduardo R. Luque Award: Awarded to a Latin American spinal surgeon, this award funds attendance at the annual SRS Meeting and Course or a two-week educational observation at an SRS location.


Javier Pizones, MD, PhD


SRS Lifetime Achievement Awards: Awarded to senior SRS members who have demonstrated lifetime commitment to treating and researching spinal deformity.

Walter P. Blount Humanitarian Award: Awarded to a spinal surgeon who has demonstrated a sense of service and who has served society at large through his or her work in spinal deformity.

OrthoPediatric North American Resident/Fellow Meeting Scholarships: Allows North American orthopedic or neurosurgery residents who are pursuing specializations in pediatric spinal deformity to attend the SRS Annual Meeting and Course or the IMAST
