Spine Surgeon Leader to Know: Dr. Thomas Mauri of North Shore University Hospital

Thomas Mauri, MD, is an orthopedic spine surgeon. He is the chief of spine surgery and vice chair of the department of orthopedic surgery at North Shore University Hospital in New York City. He also performs surgery at University Orthopaedic Associates in Great Neck, N.Y., and is an assistant professor of orthopedic surgery at Hofstra North Shore LIJ School of Medicine.

Dr. Mauri's professional interests are in low back problems, spinal instability and spondylolisthesis.

He received his medical degree from Albany Medical College in New York and completed an internship at North Shore University Hospital. He completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. Dr. Mauri completed a neurosurgery fellowship at North Shore University Hospital and an orthopedic spine surgery, pediatric spine deformity and spine trauma fellowship at Rancho Los Amigos Medical Center at the University of South California.

Dr. Mauri is a member of the North American Spine Society, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and American Medical Society.
