Two spine surgeons recently performed two of the first M6-C artificial cervical disc implantations in the U.S. at Secaucus, N.J.-based Hudson Regional Hospital.
Three things to know:
1. Jonathan Lewin, MD, performed the first surgery at the hospital in September and Fabien Bitan, MD, performed the second in October.
2. The M6-C is designed by Orthofix and is intended for patients needing an artificial disc replacement as an alternative to spinal fusion.
3. The implant mimics the natural movements of an anatomical disc and features a viscoelastic core that allows for compressibility.
