NeuroMetrix creates app for chronic pain relief wearable device: 5 things to know

NeuroMetrix, a Waltham, Mass.-based company developing wearable medical technology, created an Android app to accompany its Quell wearable device.

Here are five things to know:

 

1. Quell is a wearable pain relief device that uses non-invasive neurostimulation technology to reduce chronic pain.

 

2. Ideal wearers of the device include those with diabetic nerve pain, low back and leg pain, fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis.

 

3. The FDA cleared the device for treatment of chronic pain without a prescription.

 

4. In a clinical study, 81 percent of participants said the app improved their pain management, and 67 percent said they reduced pain medications when wearing the app.

 

5. The Android app provides users with a therapy dashboard, therapy and sleep tracking.
