Meningitis Outbreak Deters Patients From Receiving Pain Management Injections

Pain Management

The fungal meningitis outbreak is having an impact at interventional pain management clinics across the country, including Compassionate Pain Management in Dover, Del., according to WBOC 16. Patients are being scared away from having their steroid injections administered, thanks to tainted injections from a New England compounding company linked to the meningitis outbreak.

Eva Dickinson, MD, with Compassionate Pain Management said her clinic has never worked with the Massachusetts company being investigated and has taken extra steps to ensure injection safety, including additional UV sterilization. Still, her business is down and patients have canceled appointments.
