HealthGrades gives highest rating to Catholic Health — 5 highlights

In their recently released national quality reports, HealthGrades and Leapfrog gave Catholic Health in Tonawanda, N.Y., their highest ratings.

Here are five highlights:

 

1. Catholic Health, which includes Kenmore Mercy Hospital in Buffalo, received the most Five-Star and Specialty Excellence Awards for 2016 from Health Grades, and the area's only "A" Patient Safety Scores from Leapfrog.

 

2. These grades are part of HealthGrades' 2016 Report to the Nation, released in October, which highlights achievements in 33 of the most common inpatient procedures and conditions.

 

3. Catholic Health received 25 Five-Star and seven Specialty Excellence Awards, which places its hospitals among the top 5 percent and 10 percent in the country in the areas of cardiac surgery, orthopedic surgery, joint replacement surgery, spine surgery and prostate surgery.

 

4. HealthGrades also named Kenmore Mercy Hospital and Mercy Hospital of Buffalo, N.Y., two of America's 100 Best Hospitals for orthopedic surgery.

 

5. Kenmore Mercy Hospital and the Sisters of Charity Hospital were the only centers in the area to receive Leapfrog's "A" scores.
