Dedicated surgeon Dr. Jerome Barton retires — 5 key notes

Orthopedic surgeon, Jerome Barton, MD, is retiring after serving residents in Fairfield County, Conn., for decades, according to Westport Daily Voice.

Here are five notes:

 

1. In 1963, Dr. Barton opened a private orthopedic practice that later grew into Coastal Orthopaedics.

 

2. Coastal Orthopaedics is currently comprised of 12 surgeons, 50 employees and four physician assistants.

 

3. Dr. Barton previously served as chief of orthopedics at Norwalk (Conn.) Hospital and served as the assistant chairman of the surgical department for 20 years.

 

4. He was the first physician to introduce joint replacement and arthroscopic surgery to the community and was the first surgeon to perform each of these operations at Norwalk Hospital.

 

5. Dr. Barton is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and American College of Surgeons.
