Four spine and orthopedic specialty projects broke ground or began construction in the last 30 days.

1. Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Orthopedic Institute has started construction on a two-story, 70,000-square-foot building in Tea, S.D. The building will combine clinic and administrative space with advanced image and procedure capabilities, outpatient physical and occupational therapy, and rehabilitation. The building will also include turf space for sports training.

2. New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery and Naples, Fla.-based NCH Healthcare have started construction on an 80,000-square-foot orthopedic care facility on the NCH North Naples Hospital campus. The center will offer inpatient and outpatient care and have an ASC on-site. The jointly owned and operated facility is expected to open to patients in early 2025.

3. Tallahassee (Fla.) Orthopedic Clinic has broken ground on its Spine and Joint Replacement Surgical Center of Excellence. The facility in Tallahassee will be 17,000 square feet and is modeled after a hospital environment, the report said. It will have four operating rooms and private recovery rooms with private bathrooms.

4. Los Angeles-based DOCS Health, which focuses on spine and orthopedics, is breaking ground on a $123 million surgical hospital. The five-story, 58,000 square-foot hospital will replace a smaller building that DOCS Health purchased in 2019, the report said. The hospital is expected to be completed in 2026 and will supplement the practice's spine and orthopedic surgery center.
