Carilion Clinic is transitioning a former grocery store into a new medical building for orthopedics and neurosciences, according to a report from The Roanoke Times.

Here are five things to know:

 

1. The $15 million project will bring orthopedics and neurology specialists to the area, as well as physical medicine, rheumatology and pain management for a collaborative environment.

 

2. The building will also include an imaging suite designed to eliminate patient care lags.

 

3. The group spent eight months planning and designing the building, which is expected to open in January 2016. The 117,000-square-foot facility will include two entrances and a two-story lobby.

 

4. There will be four designated modules for orthopedics with exam rooms, a waiting room, nurses' station and physician work room. A second set of modules will include the spine and brain specialists.

 

5. The facility will also include a physical therapy gym as well as suites for has occupational therapy, hand restoration and pain management.
