Here are five things to know:

2. It features Zimmer Biomet's proprietary OsseoTi porous metal technology, which mimics the architecture of cancellous bone.

3. It also features an osteoconductive matrix designed to provide for biological incorporation.

4. The system is an alternative to traditional surgical plates, screws and staples.

5. Zimmer Biomet collaborated with orthopedic surgeons Greg Pomeroy, MD, of New England Foot and Ankle Specialists in Somerville Mass., and John Early, MD of Texas Orthopaedic Associates in Dallas to develop the system.
