Orthopedics was one of four specialties that filled all of its available positions, along with plastic surgery, radiology and thoracic surgery, according to a March 17 news release.
Of all open positions in the match database, 37,690, or 93.3 percent, were filled. There was also a more than 10 percent increase in the number of DO seniors filling open orthopedic surgery positions.
Ninety percent of orthopedic surgery positions were filled by students getting an MD or DO in the U.S.
