Orthopedic surgeon to know: Dr. Erik Severson of Minnesota Center for Orthopaedics

Erik Severson, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at Minnesota Center for Orthopaedics of Riverwood Healthcare Center in Aitkin, Minn., and Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby, Minn.

Along with serving as the center’s total joints program medical director, Mr. Severson oversees the rapid recovery program.

Dr. Severson’s practice focuses on primary hip and knee replacement and hip and knee replacement revision procedures.

In July, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons reappointed Dr. Severson to a three-year term on its Hip, Knee & Adult Reconstruction Evaluation Committee.

He has authored several peer-reviewed publications on orthopedics.

After attending the Minneapolis-based University of Minnesota Medical School, Dr. Severson completed a residency at the Salt Lake City-based University of Utah and a fellowship at Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic.
