AAOS committee reappoints Dr. Erik Severson: 5 notes

Erik Severson, MD, was reappointed to a three-year term on the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons' Hip, Knee & Adult Reconstruction Evaluation Committee, MilleLacsMessenger.com reports.

Here are five things to know:

1. Dr. Severson is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon at the Minnesota Center for Orthopaedics' Riverwood Healthcare Center in Aitkin and Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby, Minn.

2. He is the medical director of the total joints program at Riverwood and CRMC. He has been practicing at the two hospitals since 2010.

3. His first term on the committee will end March 2019.

4. Dr. Severson performed 551 total joint replacements in 2017.

5. He received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis and underwent orthopedic surgery fellowship training at Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic.
